Washington, DC is much more than a center of government and a hotbed of political intrigue. The iconic city sits on the fall line of the Piedmont Province and the Atlantic Coastal Plain, providing dramatic topographical variation and remarkable biodiversity. Washington, DC is also home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, from the iconic Yoshino Flower Cherry trees at the Jefferson Memorial to the North American Beavers swimming in the C&O Canal. Wild DC by Melanie Choukas-Bradley is your guide to it all. Equal parts nature guide and trip planner, Wild DC unveils the hidden nature in every park and waterway—and even your own neighborhood. In these rich pages you will discover the defining flora and fauna and more than 20 day trips that will help you explore the best of the region.
